| What Are Futures ? |

A future is a standardized exchange-traded contract that requires delivery of a commodity, bond, currency, or stock index, at a specified price, at a set future date. In summary, futures contracts are forward contracts, meaning they represent an agreement to make a certain transaction at a future date.
Options and futures differ as with options the buyer has the right and futures come with an obligation. Money lost and gained by each party on a futures contract are equal and opposite. Moreover, futures trading is referred to as a zero-sum game.
